Video Interview with CLH by Manhattan Times’ Sherry Mazzocchi
My next show is Thursday, July 19th at 7:30pm at Washington Heights’ Word Up Bookstore – my new favorite place to play!
Carla Lynne Hall performing at The Sugar Bar on Sept 23, 2009
Wow.
For so many reasons, last night’s show at The Sugar Bar was an amazing experience – and I’m still recovering! đ
If you were there, you know how much fun we had. Here’s a little video clip that I took of the audience with my Flip camera. Maybe you’ll see yourself!
If you couldn’t make it, the video will give you a little taste to hold you til the rest of the video is edited.
Thank you so much for a wonderful night.
– Carla
I’m happy to announce that my next show will be on Wed, Sept 23rd at Sugar Bar, the lovely Upper West Side spot that’s owned by legendary songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson. You may remember their famous tunes “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, “You’re All I Need to Get By”, “Reach Out and Touch (Somebody’s Hand)”, “Solid (As a Rock)”.
This show is a part of Make It Happen Entertainment’s “Rock & Soul” Series, “where the line between Rock & Soul blurs, morphs and merges while each genre maintains the integrity of the music!” Special thanks to Danny Brookings for booking this gig!
Sugar Bar’s website reads:
If you want sweet, Ashford & Simpsonâs Sugar Bar can satisfy that tooth. Of course you can fill up on your sugar intake anywhere, but the Sugar Bar offers a different kind of sweet. We are talking sweet music, soul-stirring riffs, runs and melodies in a cozy environment, with delectable cuisine you can find only at Ashford & Simpsonâs Sugar Bar. Presenting a fresh alternative to the mundane, the Sugar Bar, is an intimate full service restaurant, where every table has an excellent view of the stage.
Intimately immersed in big flavors, live performances, and our signature Sugartinis, an evening here might begin at the watering well where specialty cocktails and a selection of cultural appetizers set the mood and whet the appetite.

On August 31st, I had a fun and impromptu interview with Carl Worner and his sidekick Bob on their âHomegrown Radio NJâ podcast. In this podcast, I performed live, and even played CDs from my musical influences (Nil Lara and David Ryan Harris).

Next Thursday, August 6th, let’s have a Big Night Out!
Billed as a delicious gathering for the musical community, Big Night Out is a unique and supportive
environment for performers and composers of all backgrounds to come together and perform the
music that they love. On Thursday, August 6, 2009, Big Night Out is having a special night featuring
female lyricists and composers including Bomi Lee, Crystal Skillman, Amy Shapiro, and ME!
Big Night Out’s Associate Producer Alex de Suze organized has organized a very special night of
featured female artists who will present and perform their songs past and present and discuss their
songwriting process.
This night will be especially fun because the first half of the night is open mic. Hosted by Jennifer Wren, and resident Musical Director William “Bill” Zeffiro, singers are encouraged to try out new material, sing the roles that they aspire to play, sing the roles they will never play, or just show off for the joy of it. If that’s you, I’d love for you to come out and strut your stuff!
Big Night Out will play at Etcetera Etc. Restaurant located at 352 W 44th (between 8th and 9th Aves). Nestled in the heart of the Theatre District, Etcetera Etc. Restaurant features delectable Italian cuisine with a surprising Mediterranean flair and a unique industrial interior. The upstairs cabaret boasts stunning modern art and a versatile, beautiful space.
The cover is $10 ($5 if you are a member of Equity, EMC, MAC, or SAG), there’s a $12
food/beverage minimum. The food is excellent, and the cocktails are lovely, and I look forward
to seeing you there!

Musicians Lunch NYC is back, and scheduled for this Saturday, June 27th at 1pm!
Musicianâs Lunch is a luncheon event to bring together musicians who are interested in learning about the latest trends in music marketing and ideas for promotion over a meal. The cost is $25 in NYC, and you pay for your own lunch. In addition to the fun weâll be having, each lunch attendee in NYC will also get a free music marketing strategy guide! If you have your heart set on sitting next next to me, that spot goes to the first musician who offers to buy my lunch!
I love talking about music, I love breaking down marketing strategies, and I love eating out. This project is right up my alley, and I plan to do as many musician lunches as I can fit in this year.
If youâre interested in learning the latest music marketing techniques successful musicians use to build a buzz, grow their audience, and sell more CDs, visit Musicians Lunch!
