Your HOME Music Biz Marathon

Inspired by last year’s Couch By Couchwest Home Music Conference, this year I decided to host HMJ, The HOME Music Biz Marathon, which I’ll run from the comfort of my laptop from Oct 15-20th, the same time as CMJ Music Marathon comes here to NYC.

So if you can’t come to CMJ’s music biz panels, I’m coming to you!

The HMJ Music Biz Marathon will feature:

* A DAILY telecall series for “The 5 C’s of the New Music Biz”.

* A NIGHTLY Webinar presentation demonstrating music marketing strategies that can be used immediately.

* Coverage of random CMJ events here in NYC

All telecalls webinars are free, and will be recorded. To get the replays, sign up at

Come to the Tiki Bar!

Just in time for the CMJ Music Conference: On Friday, October 19th, I’ll be a featured performer in the long running “No Name” Comedy/Variety Show hosted by Eric Vetter. Show starts at 7pm!

Now that Word Up Books is on hiatus, Eric moved the show to Otto’s Shrunken Head, everyone’s favorite dive tiki bar on the Lower East Side of NYC.

Speaking of CMJ, while the music conference is going on in NYC, I’ll also be hosting HMJ, my Home Music Journal conference. Watch this space for more details!!!

Become a Skillshare Teacher!

On October 24th from 10am -7pm, the Skillshare Teachers Meetup Group is having a Coworking Event at New Work City in NYC where you can bring your laptop to work for the day, and learn more about teaching classes for!

This meetup is limited to 10 guests, and costs $30 (to be paid at the door). If you’re already a member of the New Work City Coworking Space, it’s FREE.

New Work City is located at:
412 Broadway, 2nd Floor
New York, NY 10012
(212) 226-1585

Meetup Organizers (and Skillshare Master Teachers) Nate Cooper and Carla Lynne Hall will give mini-presentations from their Skillshare presentations, and answer your questions about what it’s like to teach for Skillshare. Skillshare’s Community Director Danya Cheskis-Gold will also be on hand to talk about the Skillshare platform.

If you’re not familiar with Coworking, defines Coworking as “A style of work that involves a shared working environment, often an office, and independent activity. Unlike in a typical office environment, those coworking are usually not employed by the same organization. Typically it is attractive to work-at-home professionals, independent contractors, or people who travel frequently who end up working in relative isolation.” In other words, Coworking is a great alternative to working in coffee shops and cafes, or in isolation at home.

Bring your laptop, meet some people, and get work done!

All attendees will receive MP3 replay of Carla’s interview with Jeff Ramos, fellow Skillshare Master Teacher who shares his tips and tricks for teaching and promoting his Skillshare classes!
