Happy Election Day 2008! Vote Early! Vote Often! ;-)

Posted in A Day in the Life | No Comments »

Happy Election Day 2008, Folks! It’s 7:30am in the morning, and I’ve just voted!

My cousin, the poet MC Rebecca “Butterfly” Vaughns, has been supporting her Election Day choice through her haircut, which was featured in this month’s Double Issue of Jet Magazine (with Jennifer Hudson on the cover).

As you can see in both photos, Butterfly has had Obama’s face and slogan shaved into her lowcut afro by some barber artiste. Butterfly has always had designs shaved into her hair (such as a butterfly), and this time, she’s using her head to make a political statement.

This is better than a bumper sticker!

Wow, I voted early, and the lines moved quickly. Do you think I could go back and do that again? 😉

On a groundbreaking election day like today, I have to add the sage words that have been making their way around the web. Wish I knew who said it first, but I’m grateful to repeat:

Rosa sat so Martin could walk. Martin walked so Obama could run. Obama runs so our children can fly!

It’s Election Day. Rock Your Vote!
